As an actor, there are many different realms that you can dive into. My most comfortable realm of acing is drama and horror. I feel very at home there, and it is my comfort level. I have however been in a couple of comedies, but mainly I stick with what I am comfortable with. I personally am a method actor, so when I am presented a role, I dive into the back story of that particular character. I find out everything that I can about that character, and then at times I add a few elements of my own. I try to begin to think thick the character would think, talk how they would talk, eat how I think they would eat, and so on. When I play a character, I become that character. I become that character 24/7 and live as that character until my very last scene.
I will however warn you about the possible dangers of character acting, but that is a blog for another day. What I will say however, you need to keep a balance between fiction and reality. A lot of times when I am done playing certain characters, I need to take a mental break for a week or two. But, playing the character of Drew Etch was fun and exciting for me. He was a gangster type and a powerful individual with a short witted ming. I really dove into the character and had a lot of fun with it. I was actually sad at the end of production, because I really got to know who Drew was, and he became a part of me.
